About the Diversity Council

The Internal Medicine Diversity Council is a resident-run organization that serves to promote equity and inclusion within our program. The council endeavors to support the diverse members of our house staff and to ensure high-quality medical education to prepare our trainees to meet the needs of patients.
Areas of focus for the Diversity Council include:
- Community-building within the residency between trainees and faculty
- Mentorship
- Advocacy for and outreach to the greater Houston community
- LGBT support
- Educational initiatives
