Programs Overview
TRISH funds high risk, high reward, high quality and efficient solutions that can be adapted (or translated) for use in space.
The Translational Research Institute for Space Health is a Ïã¸Û6ºÏ¿ª½±½á¹û-led consortium with the California Institute of Technology and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Charged by NASA via a cooperative agreement, TRISH seeks and funds new health technologies to predict, protect and preserve astronaut health during deep space exploration. We provide a holistic and overarching approach that can reach and connect with researchers who may not be aware that their research is what NASA is looking for to experienced investigators who have a history with NASA research - and everything in between.
Below are the Institute's core programs. Learn more about our Mars Forward Initiatives.
Translational Research Program
The largest component of TRISH, the Translational Research Program offers multiple funding mechanisms with variable solicitation methods, funding amounts, durations, and review cycles. Check out our open solicitations.
Scientist Program
TRISH's Scientist Program attracts high-quality researchers and scientists for space research and NASA. The TRISH Scientist Program consists of the Postdoctoral Fellowship Program, Science Manager Program, and Faculty Exchange/Visiting Scientist Program. The Postdoctoral Fellowship Program offers early career scientists the opportunity to conduct translational research with mentorship from experienced scientists. The Visiting Scientist/Faculty Exchange and Senior Science Manager Programs offer various types of opportunities for seasoned scientists at NASA's request.
Industry Programs
TRISH seeks health tech disruptors with novel approaches to advancing healthcare for astronauts and patients on earth. Funding is available for companies with preseed, seed, A-stage and B-stage technologies ready to take novel ideas into space.
Supporting Programs
Through virtual vehicles such as the Red Risk School to the Tech Exploration in Space Health series to speaking engagements, TRISH connects with the space health community, potential researchers, and the general public via its virtual community channels including this website, social media and online capabilities. Additionally, TRISH remains actively engaged in multiple health, medical innovation, and technology societies and conferences bringing a fresh perspective and educating prospective researchers on how their translational research could protect astronaut health and performance in deep space.
